Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 8, 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to both the NewStudio website (newstudio.app) and the NewStudio Chrome extension. It explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and the choices you have.
NewStudio is built to be privacy-respecting. Most of what the extension does happens locally in your browser. The main exceptions, which we describe in detail below, are account and billing, product analytics, and the optional NewStats feature, which retrieves your YouTube channel analytics on your behalf.
Information We Collect
Account and sign-in (Google)
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:
- Your email address and basic profile information.
- Your Google account identifier, used to link your account.
- A Google access token, which we use at sign-in to verify your account and sync your entitlements with our service. We never receive or store your Google password.
Payments (Stripe)
Payments are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer identifier and subscription status so we can manage your plan. Card numbers and payment credentials are handled directly by Stripe under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your full card number.
Website usage and analytics
When you use the website, we may collect:
- Your IP address and approximate, IP-derived location.
- Browser and device information.
- Pages visited, referring pages, and interactions.
- Analytics events (for example via Google Analytics) used to understand usage and improve the product.
Referral and affiliate tracking
If you arrive through an affiliate or referral link, we record the referral so we can attribute it correctly. This includes:
- The affiliate or referral code and a referral visit identifier.
- A cookie (named
ns_aff_v) that identifies your visit during the attribution window. - A salted, one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address, used for attribution and fraud prevention. We store the hash, not your raw IP address.
Extension settings and preferences
Your extension settings and preferences are stored locally in your browser. If you are signed in, some preferences may be synced to your account so they follow you across devices.
Extension usage analytics
The extension sends product-usage analytics to our servers, such as an install and session identifier, the extension version, your browser, whether you are signed in, and which features you use. These events are not anonymous: where you are signed in, they may be associated with your account.
NewStats and YouTube channel analytics
NewStats is an optional feature that shows historical analytics for YouTube channels you choose to track. Your private YouTube analytics can only be read using your own authenticated YouTube session, so to provide NewStats we need to use that session on your behalf.
When you enable NewStats tracking for a channel, the extension reads the analytics requests that YouTube Studio makes in your browser and sends the following to our NewStats servers (stats.newstudio.app):
- The request headers associated with those YouTube Studio analytics requests. These headers include your YouTube and Google authorization token and related identity headers, which are required to authenticate the analytics requests.
- Your YouTube channel identifier.
- The analytics data returned for your channel (for example views, subscriber counts, and top videos).
We use this information solely to retrieve, store, and display your channel analytics over time within NewStats. We do not use it to take any other action on your YouTube or Google account, and we do not sell it.
This transmission only happens for channels you choose to track in NewStats. If you do not enable NewStats tracking, these headers are not sent. You can stop it at any time by disabling NewStats tracking or removing a tracked channel.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and local storage to:
- Keep you signed in and maintain your session.
- Store your preferences and settings.
- Attribute referrals (the
ns_aff_vcookie). - Measure and improve usage.
How We Use Data
We use the data described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the website and extension.
- Provide features, including account, billing, and NewStats.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions.
- Understand product usage and measure performance.
- Attribute referrals and prevent fraud and abuse.
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you.
We do not sell your data.
How Data Is Shared
We share data only with service providers that help us run NewStudio, and only as needed to provide the service:
- Google, for sign-in and analytics.
- Stripe, for payments and subscription billing.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers, which process data on our behalf.
These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose data if required by law.
Data Retention
- Server logs: approximately 30 days.
- Account, billing, and analytics data: retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
- NewStats channel data: retained while you track the channel so we can show history over time.
- Cached data: retained as needed for functionality.
Your Choices and Data Deletion
- You can disable NewStats tracking or remove tracked channels.

- You can uninstall the extension at any time.

- Local storage, to save your settings.
- Background network requests, to send product analytics and, when enabled, to power NewStats.
