Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the NewStudio website (newstudio.app), NewStudio Studio (studio.newstudio.app), and the NewStudio browser extension, in every browser we publish it for. That is currently Chrome (and other Chromium browsers such as Edge, Brave, and Opera) and Firefox. The extension works the same way in each, and this policy covers all of them. It explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and the choices you have.

There is one NewStudio account and one set of policies for all of these services. This Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service always live at newstudio.app. When you create a NewStudio account, you agree to both. When you sign in to NewStudio Studio and when you connect a Google account there, you agree to both again, for everything that connection allows us to do as described below.

NewStudio is built to be privacy-respecting. Most of what the extension does happens locally in your browser. The main exceptions, which we describe in detail below, are account and billing, product analytics, optional notification delivery, the optional NewStats feature, which retrieves your YouTube channel analytics on your behalf, and NewStudio Studio, which shows your YouTube Studio information on our website from any device.

Information We Collect

Account and sign-in

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:

• Your email address and basic profile information.
• Your Google account identifier, used to link your account.
• A Google access token, which we use at sign-in to verify your account and sync your entitlements with our service. We never receive or store your Google password.

If you create or use an email and password account, we store your email address, name if provided, a one-way password hash, email verification status, and information needed for password recovery and optional two-factor authentication. We do not store your password in readable form. Sign-in and security requests may also be associated with an IP address for security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.

Connected Discord account

If you choose to connect Discord, Discord provides us with your Discord user identifier and username or display name. We use this information to link your NewStudio and Discord accounts, synchronize applicable access or roles, and deliver Discord alerts you choose to receive. We do not receive your Discord password.

Payments (Stripe)

Payments are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer identifier and subscription status so we can manage your plan. Card numbers and payment credentials are handled directly by Stripe under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your full card number.

Website usage and analytics

When you use the website, we may collect:

• Your IP address and approximate, IP-derived location.
• Browser and device information.
• Pages visited, referring pages, and interactions.
• Analytics events (for example via Google Analytics) used to understand usage and improve the product.

Referral and affiliate tracking

If you arrive through an affiliate or referral link, we record the referral so we can attribute it correctly. This includes:

• The affiliate or referral code and a referral visit identifier.
• A cookie (named ns_aff_v) that identifies your visit during the attribution window.
• A salted, one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address, used for attribution and fraud prevention. We store the hash, not your raw IP address.

Extension settings and preferences

Your extension settings and preferences are stored locally in your browser. If you are signed in, some preferences may be synced to your account so they follow you across devices.

Extension usage analytics

The extension sends product-usage analytics to our servers, such as an install and session identifier, the extension version, your browser, whether you are signed in, and which features you use. These events are not anonymous: where you are signed in, they may be associated with your account.

Creator notifications

Notifications are enabled in the extension by default and can be turned off. While enabled, the extension uses your current authenticated YouTube and YouTube Studio session to periodically review channels available through your signed-in Google account slots. This can include channels you can access as an owner, brand account user, or other permitted role, even if you have not recently opened that channel in Studio.

The notification system may locally process:

• Channel identifiers, names, profile images, and signed-in account slot information.
• Video identifiers, titles, thumbnails, publication and visibility status, monetization status, restrictions, made-for-kids status, scheduling status, and view counts.
• Channel subscriber counts, estimated revenue, performance changes, and notifications available in your YouTube notification feed.
• Alert settings, per-channel criteria, scan state, alert history, dismissed alerts, and failed-delivery retry state.

YouTube session credentials and authorization headers used for these checks remain in the extension's local storage and are used to make requests to YouTube on your behalf. They are not included in the alert payload sent to NewStudio for email or Discord delivery.

Alerts displayed in YouTube, YouTube Studio, or the extension popup are stored locally. The local alert feed and failed-delivery queue are limited to 100 entries each and are removed after approximately 30 days. Scan snapshots and channel settings remain locally as needed to detect changes, prevent duplicate alerts, and remember your choices. Turning notifications off stops scanning and clears any pending outbound delivery queue.

Email and Discord delivery are separate and off by default. If you turn either one on, the extension sends our service the alert identifier and type, alert category, channel identifier, title, message, relevant YouTube or YouTube Studio link, and event time. Our service uses the email address on your NewStudio account or the Discord account you connected to deliver the alert. It may retain recipient, send-status, message identifier, subject, and related delivery records to operate the service, prevent duplicates, handle failures, and maintain suppression records. Notification emails do not use open-pixel tracking.

Notification and delivery preferences may be stored with your NewStudio account and synchronized between the website, extension, and our administrative service. You can disable individual alert types, mute specific channels, turn off all notifications, or turn off email or Discord delivery in NewStudio's settings. You can also disconnect Discord from your account settings.

NewStats and YouTube channel analytics

NewStats is an optional feature that adds an Analytics panel to public YouTube channel pages and shows how a channel's public statistics change over time. It works only with information that is visible to anyone who visits the channel page.

When you open the Analytics panel on a channel, the extension reads that channel's public listing from YouTube in your browser and sends it to our NewStats servers (stats.newstudio.app):

• The channel identifier, name, handle, description, profile image, banner, public subscriber count, total view count, video count, join date, and country, as shown on the channel's About page.
• For each public video, short, and live stream: the video identifier, title, thumbnail, length, rounded view count, and how long ago it was published.

These requests are made without your Google sign-in. Your YouTube password, session cookies, and authorization headers are never sent to NewStats, and NewStats does not read private analytics, revenue, or any other information that is not public.

Our servers keep a compact history of public view and subscriber counts for channels that have been opened recently so the panel can show 24-hour, 7-day, and 30-day changes. We also read the same public statistics from the YouTube Data API to keep that history accurate. History for a channel that nobody has opened in 30 days is deleted. NewStats requests are authorized with a short-lived token that identifies your NewStudio plan; they do not include your email address or Google account information.

Only channels you choose to open are read. You can turn NewStats off in the extension settings at any time, after which the extension makes no NewStats requests.

NewStudio Studio (studio.newstudio.app)

NewStudio Studio is a web version of YouTube Studio for the channels you own or manage. It works from any device, including phones, and can show several channels together. To use it, you sign in with your NewStudio account and then connect one or more Google accounts.

What you agree to when you connect a Google account

When you press Connect Google account, Google shows you the permissions NewStudio is asking for, and you choose whether to allow them. By connecting, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, and you allow NewStudio to request your YouTube channel information from YouTube and Google on your behalf, on our servers, for as long as the account stays connected.

What we receive and store

• Your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile picture, so we can show which Google account each channel belongs to.
• For each connected YouTube channel: its channel identifier, name, handle, and profile image.
• A Google refresh token and the list of permissions you granted. The refresh token is encrypted on our servers and is used only by our servers to get short-lived access tokens. Access tokens are kept in memory and expire within about an hour. We never receive or store your Google password.
• Channel groups you create, and the channel or group you last viewed.
• Periodic snapshots of the view counts of your recent videos and your channel totals, so we can show recent activity such as the last 48 hours.

What we read from YouTube on your behalf

Using the permission you granted, our servers read the YouTube Studio information for your connected channels from YouTube's official APIs and other YouTube services. This can include:

• Channel details and statistics, such as subscribers, total views, and video count.
• Your videos, Shorts, live streams, and playlists, including private, unlisted, and scheduled ones, with their titles, descriptions, thumbnails, settings, and statistics.
• Comments on your videos and your recent subscribers.
• Channel and video analytics, such as views, watch time, subscribers gained and lost, audience, traffic sources, and, if your account has access to it, estimated revenue.

NewStudio Studio only reads this information. It does not upload, edit, publish, delete, reply, like, subscribe, or change anything on your channel or Google account. When YouTube Studio offers an action, NewStudio Studio sends you to YouTube Studio to do it yourself. Even where Google's permission screen describes broader access, we use the permission only to read.

How it is processed and shown

Requests made with your Google connection, and all calculations, including combining several channels, run on NewStudio's servers. Your browser receives only the finished pages. We keep short-lived copies of YouTube responses, usually for minutes and at most a few hours, so pages load quickly and stay within YouTube's usage limits. We check your NewStudio plan to decide which NewStudio Studio features you can use, such as combining channels.

The NewStudio extension and connecting your phone

On a computer, NewStudio Studio uses the NewStudio browser extension to read your YouTube Studio information through the YouTube Studio session you are already signed in to in that browser. The extension sends those responses to NewStudio's servers, which build the pages you see. The extension only does this for NewStudio Studio pages you open while signed in to your NewStudio account.

Phones and other devices without the extension connect automatically. When you open NewStudio Studio on such a device, signed in to the same NewStudio account, and NewStudio Studio is open on one of your computers with the extension installed, NewStudio automatically sends that device's requests to your computer, which reads the information through its extension and returns it. These requests and responses pass through NewStudio's servers only in memory while the page loads and are not stored. Only devices signed in to your own NewStudio account can use your computer this way. To stop it, close NewStudio Studio on your computer or sign out of NewStudio Studio.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect a Google account at any time from NewStudio Studio. When you do, we ask Google to revoke NewStudio's access and delete that account's tokens, channel details, and snapshots from our servers. You can also remove NewStudio's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page, after which NewStudio Studio can no longer read that account.

Google API Services and Limited Use

NewStudio's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, and to the Google API Services User Data Policy. In particular:

• We only use Google user data to provide and improve NewStudio's user-facing features, such as account sign-in, entitlements, creator notifications, NewStats channel analytics, and NewStudio Studio.
• We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve those features, to comply with applicable law, or to protect against fraud, abuse, or security issues.
• We do not use or transfer Google user data for serving personalized advertisements.
• We do not sell Google user data, and we do not transfer it to data brokers or other information resellers.
• We do not use Google user data to determine creditworthiness or for any lending purposes.
• We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless you give specific consent, it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.

NewStudio Studio uses YouTube API Services. By connecting a Google account there, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage to:

• Keep you signed in and maintain your session, including the NewStudio Studio session cookie on studio.newstudio.app.
• Store your preferences and settings.
• Attribute referrals (the ns_aff_v cookie).
• Measure and improve usage.

How We Use Data

We use the data described above to:

• Operate, maintain, and improve the website, NewStudio Studio, and the extension.
• Provide features, including account, billing, creator notifications, NewStats, and NewStudio Studio.
• Process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Secure accounts, verify sign-ins, apply rate limits, and prevent fraud and abuse.
• Understand product usage and measure performance.
• Attribute referrals and prevent fraud and abuse.
• Respond to support requests and communicate with you.

We do not sell your data.

Customer Identification

By using the Services, you grant Company a non-exclusive right to identify you publicly as a user of the Services, including by displaying your name, channel name, username, and associated publicly available profile image in Company websites, promotional materials, presentations, and social media. Company will not state or imply that you sponsor, endorse, or recommend Company or the Services unless you separately authorize such endorsement.

How Data Is Shared

We share data only with service providers that help us run NewStudio, and only as needed to provide the service:

• Google, for sign-in, analytics, YouTube functionality (including the requests NewStudio Studio makes to YouTube for your connected channels), and email delivery through connected Google Workspace mailboxes.
• Stripe, for payments and subscription billing.
• Discord, when you connect Discord or choose Discord alert delivery.
• Our hosting and infrastructure providers, which process data on our behalf.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose data if required by law.

Data Retention

• Server logs: approximately 30 days.
• Account, billing, and analytics data: retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
• Local notification feed and delivery retry entries: approximately 30 days, subject to the local entry limits described above.
• Notification preferences, scan state, delivery records, and suppression records: retained as needed to provide alerts, honor your choices, prevent duplicate delivery, maintain security, and meet legal obligations.
• NewStats channel data: retained while you track the channel so we can show history over time.
• NewStudio Studio connections: your Google account details, channel details, and encrypted refresh token are kept until you disconnect the Google account, remove NewStudio's access in your Google Account, or delete your NewStudio account.
• NewStudio Studio view-count snapshots: approximately 30 days.
• NewStudio Studio sessions: up to 180 days, or until you sign out.
• Cached data: retained as needed for functionality.

Your Choices and Data Deletion

• You can disable NewStats tracking or remove tracked channels.
• You can turn off notifications, individual alert types, selected channels, email delivery, or Discord delivery.
• You can disconnect your Discord account.
• You can disconnect any Google account from NewStudio Studio, which revokes our access and deletes its stored tokens and data, or remove NewStudio's access from your Google Account permissions page.
• You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser.
• You can uninstall the extension at any time.
• You can request deletion of your account data by contacting us. Requests are completed within 30 days, though some data may be retained where required for legal or security reasons.

Extension Permissions

The permissions below are the same in the Chrome and Firefox builds. The extension requests them only for core functionality:

• Access to YouTube domains, to read and modify YouTube Studio and to support NewStats as described above.
• Local storage, to save your settings.
• Background network requests, to send product analytics and, when enabled, to power NewStats, account synchronization, notification checks, and optional email or Discord alert delivery.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. All data transmitted between your browser, our servers, and our service providers is sent over encrypted connections using modern cryptography (HTTPS/TLS). No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

NewStudio is not intended for users under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
